Adult Beginner/Open Courses
Beginner courses are designed for students who have never taken an art class or are new to making art or to a specific medium (acrylic, oil, watercolour, pastel). Beginner courses provide students with essential skills and knowledge that can be built upon in future courses.
Open courses are suitable for all levels from beginner to advanced.

Adult Intermediate/Advanced Courses
Intermediate courses are ideal for students who have some experience in a specific medium and who are looking for direction towards progressive skill building. Prerequisite: Basic drawing and painting skills.
Advanced courses are designed for experienced students looking for an
opportunity to continue their development in a supportive and encouraging environment. Some courses will provide instruction on specific techniques or support students in their exploration of new subject matter in order to expand their individual art practice. Prerequisite: Advanced drawing and painting experience.

Adult Workshops
Try something new or build on your artistic skillset! Plan a creative date night with your significant other or with your friends, our workshops offer the opportunity to meet new instructors and participate in a workshop related to their full course offering. Each event offers the opportunity to meet new people, make art in a relaxed atmosphere. From printmaking to portrait drawing we have a selection of spring offerings to intrigue and engage your creativity!

Teen Courses and Workshops
Our Teen programs are designed to support young artists’ artistic growth. Each program offers the opportunity to learn and practice techniques in drawing, painting, mixed media and digital art. Inspiring projects are introduced to connect with learned skills, build confidence and allow teens to showcase their developing artistic style.

Kids Courses
Fostering creativity in childhood is essential to developing communication and language skills, problem solving abilities and improving self-esteem. Children will have fun exploring drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics and mixed media projects guided by the Elements & Principles of Art and Art History. Following step-by-step demonstrations, children will develop foundational art skills and ignite their imagination through new art projects each session.

PA Day Camp at VAM is the perfect place to explore your creativity and engage your curiosities! Campers will make art in our studios overlooking Riverwood Park, while enjoying plenty of time outdoors. Our camp team is led by First Aid and High Five Certified artist instructors whose goal is to create a fun and supportive environment. Join us at camp – we look forward to welcoming you to our vibrant local arts community!
