Perspectives: Annual Juried Art Exhibition
Perspectives: Annual Juried Art Exhibition opens the doors to diverse artistic expression and asks artists to submit work that represents their art practice, their current artistic investigations, and their passions. We want to see the unique perspectives that artists have in their use of materials, messaging, and contemporary practice.
Application Deadline : Thursday, November 29 at 11:59pm, or the first 100 submissions.
Please fill out only one entry per artist.
Jurors:
- Jake Santos:Jake Santos is a Toronto-based, Newmarket born, visual artist. Santos’ work utilizes the airbrush as a painting tool to mediate distance between subject matter and the artist’s hand. Exploring the desire of objects, and its implications in painting, Santos’ painting uses contemporary methods of cropping and blurring as a way of recontextualizing images. Jake Santos has received a BFA in Drawing and Painting at OCAD University. He has had solo exhibitions locally in Toronto and internationally. He has been included in multiple group shows in Toronto and Artist-Run centres. His work has been published locally (Toronto Life, and Toronto Star) and nationwide (CBC Arts, 2025, 2026). He has participated in multiple art fairs, locally and internationally, and is featured in multiple private and public collections.
- Karie Liao
Karie Liao is Assistant Curator at the Blackwood Gallery. Her professional background includes co-founding the Toronto Art Book Fair and holding curatorial positions at Cape Breton University Art Gallery, Artscape Youngplace, Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area, and the Textile Museum of Canada. Her writing has been published by the Canada Media Fund, Vie des Arts, BlackFlash, and C Magazine. Karie holds an MA in Art History and Curatorial Practice from York University. - Misbah Ahmed
Misbah Ahmed (she/her) is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist working primarily in painting and ceramic sculpture. Her art merges research on historical non-Western crafts and artifacts with a dedication to environmental themes, reflecting her growing concern for ecological issues. Recalling environments shaped by memory and imagination she intertwines themes of climate crisis, shifting cultural landscapes, superstition, and existence within a racialized female body. Through her art, Ahmed tells stories of grief and resilience.
VAM Member Show – I Love Riverwood
VAM invites artists to share artwork inspired by nature found on their visits in Riverwood Park.
Submissions due Thursday, November 13.
Artwork drop off Wednesday, November 19 to Saturday, November 22 from 10am-2pm
Artwork pick up Monday, December 15 to Wednesday, December 17 from 2-4pm

Whether it was a walk at Riverwood, a captured floral, or even the barn, share how Riverwood inspires your work!
Exhibition space is limited to the first 25-35 pieces submitted, depending on artwork size.
