Embrave, the Peel Committee Against Woman Abuse (PCAWA), and Visual Arts Mississauga (VAM) invite artists to submit original artwork for the 2026 Take Back the Night Poster Contest.
This annual call for artists celebrates creativity while raising awareness about gender-based violence, supporting survivors, and promoting safety, dignity, and equality for all. Artists are encouraged to create an original poster that reflects the mission and values of the Take Back the Night movement.
Submission Guidelines
- Posters may be created using traditional or digital media in standard sizes (letter, legal, tabloid, etc.).
- Artwork must be original, unpublished, and created by the submitting artist.
- Posters should reflect the values and mission of Take Back the Night.
- Artists retain copyright of their work while granting the organizers permission to print, display, and use winning entries for event and promotional purposes.
Contest Categories
Please select one category when submitting your artwork:
- Teen Artists: Ages 11–17
- Emerging Artists: Ages 18–30
Artists in this age group who consider themselves established are welcome to enter the Established Artist category. Please note your age in your submission. - Established Artists: Ages 31+
Artists aged 31+ who consider themselves emerging may enter the Emerging Artist category. Please note your age in your submission.
Prizes
One first-place winner will be selected from each category.
Each winner will receive:
- A $100 Embrave Gift Card
- A $100 Visual Arts Mississauga Gift Card
Winning Artwork
Winning posters will be professionally printed and displayed during the Take Back the Night event on September 17, 2026. Selected artworks will also be featured in promotional materials, including print and digital campaigns, helping raise awareness throughout the community.
