Joanna Konopka

Artist

Joanna Konopka is a print media artist, designer, curator, painter and filmmaker based in Toronto, Canada. She has graduated from Sheridan College and the University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts and Art History as well as a certificate in curatorial studies. Recently, Konopka interned at Images Festival in Toronto which has broadened her knowledge and practice in contemporary film and moving image making. It has inspired her to create art that can be viewed and understood globally through the simply communication of composition, colour and form. Konopka is currently an artist resident at Visual Arts Mississauga where she aims to build her portfolio for grad school, work on larger scale pieces and get involved in the local art community. Her current focus is within Printmaking, she is drawn to the multi-step process that can uniquely change the artwork at any point. Throughout her work, she explores themes of environment, body, memory, and girlhood while working in various mediums to gain the most amount of knowledge through experimentation.
