Joy Rogers is a member of Six Nations of the Grand River, Seneca. On her maternal side, she has Haudenosaunee (Six Nations) and Chippewa (Beausoleil First Nation) ancestry. On her paternal side, she has English and Scottish ancestry. She began beading in early 2021 and learned most of what she knows from her mom who was a beader while she was growing up. Joy’s beadwork blends contemporary and traditional Indigenous styles and is largely inspired by Mother Earth.
